Joe Glover, Mansfield I.S.D.

Easy going; full of energy and ideas!

Even though he is not a native Texan, he shows remarkable joy and happiness! Maybe that’s because he has claimed Texas by choice.

Tends to share his faith so openly you might think he is a preacher or deacon or such.

If you have ever ridden a vehicle that he is driving, you learn quickly about faith and trust … your own trust in a higher being or a guardian angel is directly proportional to how much he is talking while driving.

Our Honoree has been a driving force in the transportation education process. Why, some of may remember him as your proctor for the national exams. Could you tell that he also wrote many of the questions? But don’t go ask him what the answers are!

If you do, he will fascinate you with his version of how the answer was developed. Remember, he was formally trained as an Accident Investigator, which suggests how he got his driving reputation. Earlier, with a degree in Elementary Education, he was teaching 6^th grade science. Later, after earning a Masters in Public School Administration he was able to expand into other fields.

Actually, he told me that he got into Transportation because there wasn’t anyone else to do it at the time, and it was almost no additional work.

When he moved out of day-to-day operations, his little extra job had become a respected career and he had become a leader in the field.

After many volunteer positions at the local chapter level and several terms on the TAPT Executive Committee, he was honored to be your TAPT President and later honored to be the School Bus Fleet Magazine Administrator of the Year.

May I introduce your 2002 TAPT Honoree, Joe Glover.

Joe Glover is Chairman of the NAPT Certification &

Continuing Education Committee (since 1991.)

Joe served on the TAPT Executive Committee as:

Historian (89/90); Treasurer (90/91 & 93/94);

Secretary (91/92 & 94/95); President Elect (95/96);

and as the President for 96/97.
