Course #1 Tire Maintenance.
Length: ½ day
Class: Presented by private industry
Certificate of attendance given by TASBT.
The course includes routine tire maintenance and repair for bus tires.
Course #2 School Bus Safety Inspection.
Length: 2 days
Class: First day class covering 191 page inspection manual. Second day open book test with hands on inspection of a school bus. Given by TASBT
Certification given with specific number.
The course includes inspecting a bus from bumper to bumper. It also list items the bus should be taken out of service for and repaired before putting the bus back into service.
Course #2.5 School Bus Safety Inspection for Managers
Length: 1 day
Same as course #2 without testing and second day.
Course #3 Air Brake Certification.
Length: 1 day
Class: Class presented by private industry
Test: Test given by TASBT including general knowledge, component ID, and hands on.
Certification given with specific number.
The course includes air brakes and some information on anti-lock air brake systems. Technicians have to assemble and disassemble foundation brakes, check tolerances on brake drums and S-cam clearances. They also have to identify air brake system components.
Course #4 School Bus Body Electrical
Length: 1 Day
Class: Given by TASBT with general knowledge test, schematic symbols test, and hands on test.
Certification given with specific number.
The course includes basic electrical circuits, multimeter usage and electrical schematics.
Course #5 School Bus Air Conditioning
Length: 1 day
Class: Given by private industry
Test: Given by TASBT in general knowledge and hands on.
Certification given with specific number.
The course includes basic air conditioning for large vehicles. Technicians have to identify components and equipment.
Course #6 Basic School Bus Electronics
Length: 1 day
Class: Given by TASBT with general knowledge test and hands on.
Certification given with specific number.
The course is basic electronics for technicians. It is in the designing stage at this time. We will have it completed for the conference this summer.
