Carl Cator,
I will attempt to contact you via the phone shortly, however, I wanted to let you know that the IC Bus Awards Committee has reviewed the applications for the NAPT Driver Training & Safety Award and has chosen Allen ISD as the winner!
From your thorough application, we can tell that Allen ISD values training and security for your passengers, team members, and general public. Your teams’ efforts to provide the safest form of transportation truly deserve to be recognized, and we are proud to do so
I believe NAPT plans to have us present this award on Monday morning. Will yourself or Eileen be at the Summit this year?
I may need some additional information; I will contact you should I need anything.
Congratulations again!
Regards,
Keith Kladder

Three Members Complete New NAPT Special Needs Program
Three school transportation professionals have become the first in the nation to fullfill the the National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT) Special Needs Training Program.
Marisa Weisinger of Innovative Transportation Solutions/R4 in Houston, Renee Davis of Spring ISD and Nancy Kessler of Katy ISD recently completed the program.
The NAPT Special Needs Training has a core curriculum of 24 hours of education in a variety of settings, including a school bus roadeo and a trade show of school transportation products and services. The core curriculum is supplemented by eight hours of elective instructions from the NAPT Professional Development Series.
The courses are available in a variety of locations throughout the year. Thirty people participated in the program at the NAPT Summit in Portland, Ore.
Weisinger told SBF that the program "affords the opportunity for coordinators and supervisors to enhance their knowledge and skills and to netowrk with other district personnel who perform the same tasks they do on a daily basis.
Kessler noted that "special needs is ever changing. Each child has an individual need, and we need al the training we can get to stay on top of what is happening.
Jerry Belt was the Area 1 Director in the late 90's. He was the second person to serve in that capacity
after the position became part of TAPT. He was the transportation director for Seminole ISD
for a number of years and a tireless worker in the state and regional roadeos. Our condolences to the Belt family as we just learned Jerry passed away a few weeks ago.
Trace Heider (Parts Manager for Longhorn Bus Sales) and Tammy Cross (Humble ISD Router) are getting married this summer at Moody Gardens. June 25 @ 1:00 in the Moody 1 Room!
They are very excited!! They met at TAPT in Waco and it seemed to make sense that they get married at TAPT in Galveston!!
Congratulations to Trace & Tammy
