Santa's Workshop Killeen, Texas 2007

Several months ago I got a request from members of TAPT asking that we donate to the Fort Hood Santa’s Workshop which benefits families of soldiers currently located at Fort Hood and other that are deployed, to Iraq and other countries, and do not have sufficient funds for providing for their families for Christmas.

This is a magnificent program that is not only supported by outside donations, it is also command-sponsored by Fort Hood units.  On November 29th I attended a command reception for the purpose of donating the TAPT $1300.00, to the Workshop.  Our Executive Secretary, Jolene, provided $100.00 to this worthy cause.  One of the feature attractions, other than the money, was when I presented 24 yellow die cast school buses, complements of Andy’s Auto and Bus Air.  It also gave me an opportunity to explain all about TAPT and our mission of transporting students.  During the course of the evening, others also provided donations such as the Corvette Club of Killeen and the TAPT Chapter Heart of Texas (HOT).  I was extremely proud that night to be a part of this activity and represent TAPT because so many in attendance came to me and thanked us for our contributions.  However, the most significant issue was when Mrs. Kim Diano, President of the Santa’s Workshop, stated that these contributions will support over 1500 families and provide a Merry Christmas for over 4,000 children.  During my presentation, I informed Ms. Diano and General Rudeshiem that we were extremely honored to participate and children were our business everyday.  Santa’s Workshop is extremely well organized, has high visibility and supported at the Command level plus the dedication shown by the volunteers was truly outstanding as these folks will make the difference for these families and children.  Congratulation to everyone associated with TAPT as you have made a difference in a child’s Christmas.
