SHERWOOD SCHOLARSHIP

Est. 6/2001

The Diane Sherwood Scholarship is administered and awarded by the Texas Association for Pupil Transportation in honor of Diane Sherwood, who served as Executive Secretary of the Association for many years.  The Scholarship was established to honor a woman who has often been called the ‘First Lady of Transportation’.

Ms. Sherwood was the first woman to direct a pupil transportation department in Texas.  Her leadership and guidance set the example for women in pupil transportation.  The rapid growth and success of the TAPT in it’s 29 year history, can largely be attributed to Ms. Sherwood.  To recognize her contribution, the Sherwood Scholarship was set up at the request of and through the sponsorship of Tom Guyton, TAPCO Adv.  The fund is co-sponsored by Jack Connell, Longhorn Bus Sales.
